FAQ
This page is an effort to answer the questions we most frequently get from potential adopters.
"Why are your adoption fee's so high?"
Our adoption fee's are based on the individual vetting costs of each dog. Many come to rescue in need of even the most basic medical care. This includes being brought up to date on required vaccines , heartworm testing, spaying/or neutering ,and for many a major dental. There may also be more serious health issues that need to be addressed.
To help you as a potential adopter better understand our fee's we have done a breakdown of our approx. costs per dog with regards to vetting below:
This total does not include any additional office visits or medications , shelter pull fee's which may range anywhere from $0.00 to $50.00 , gas for transports , food , cleaning supplies, treats, toys, etc.
Just the
basic vetting costs.
"Why are so many of your rescue dogs not completely potty trained?"
Many of our rescues come from "places" where they've been kept in a cage their entire lives. They've never been given training of any kind. We work with them while they are here with us and many come right along with learning proper potty etiquette. We never guarantee 100% that your new friend will not have an accident. We trust that along with your promise of love you will commit to continuing the training of your newest family member. Just as you would a brand new puppy.
Spay/neuter - $97.00 to $107.00

Rabies vaccine - $12.50

Dhlpp vaccine - $11.50

Heartworm testing - $27.00

Dental - $110.00 to $176.00
---------------------------------------------------------
Total minimum vetting : $258.00
"Why are so many of your pekes not allowed to homes with preschool  aged children?"
Because many of them would not tolerate normal toddler behavior. The pekingese in general is not a dog which "puts up with" tugging, pulling, rough play of any kind. They are likely to snap at the youngster before retreating to safety. Each dogs behavior is observed while in foster and we make the determination as to whether they are compatible with kids, cats, and other dogs. If it says "no young kids" in one of our fosters bio'........then that means we have determined that the dog will not do well in a home with young children.
We work hard to find the right match between family and pet. Something we take very seriously.
